install and use

  1. Download the wifiTunes.dmg file here
  2. Double-click the downloaded dmg file to open it. (Safari may do this automatically)
  3. Double-click the wifiTunes.prefPane and select “Install for this user only”

Just a few clicks in System Preferences and wifiTunes is configured and running.

In the control panel you can start and stop the service. Before doing so, make shure you have selected an unused port. Generally you should not use ports below 1024 unless you know what you are doing. If you don’t know what port to use, 5515 is a quite safe bet. If you change the port while wifiTunes is running, you have to click Stop, and afterwards Start to make wifiTunes use the new port.

Once wifiTunes is started, the address you can enter in your browser’s address line is shown on the preference pane. If you click this link, it will open in your default browser and iTunes will be started automatically, if it hasn’t been running. To have wifiTunes started every time you log in to your Mac, check the “Start on login” checkbox.
